I’m excited to be heading back to UntitledTown.
I spoke at the festival in 2017 and 2018, and I’m honored to be invited back for its 2026 return.
This time, I’ll be talking about something that has become an even bigger part of my work since those early UntitledTown sessions: visibility.
Great Writing Still Needs to Be Found
Writers spend an enormous amount of time getting the words right. Then comes an entirely different challenge: getting people to notice them.
You can write a terrific book, have real expertise, or develop a distinctive voice and still struggle to build an audience.
That’s why my session is called Stop Being the Best-Kept Secret: Visibility Strategies for Writers.
We’ll look at practical ways to evaluate how visible you are today, clarify what you want to be known for, and make it easier for the right people to discover and remember you.
This isn’t about becoming a full-time content creator or shouting about yourself on every available platform. It’s about being intentional about your reputation and making sure the way you show up supports the work you want people to find.
My goal is for writers to leave with specific ideas they can actually use—not 47 things to add to an already long to-do list.
About UntitledTown
UntitledTown is a free, community-driven book and author festival bringing readers, writers, authors, and storytellers together in Green Bay.
The festival includes writing workshops, craft talks, literary readings, book-focused programming, and opportunities to learn from and connect with other people who care about the written word.
UntitledTown also has some history behind it. The festival was founded in 2016, and its early festivals drew thousands of attendees and more than 100 presenters. Over the years, its featured guests have included Margaret Atwood, R.L. Stine, Roxane Gay, Susan Orlean, Christopher Moore, Danez Smith, and many others.
The Art Garage became UntitledTown’s operational home in 2025, and I’m glad to see this Green Bay literary event entering another chapter.
