The three biggest concerns I hear from businesses hesitant to use Facebook are concerns about privacy, the time it will take, and concern about receiving negative comments on their page.
Facebook and Privacy
When it comes to privacy and security on Facebook, I get it. You have every right to be concerned. In fact, it’s the people who aren’t concerned that concern me. My advice? Go right to the source. Facebook’s help has useful information on privacy.
Time Saving Tips for Social Media
I really do understand this, too. Facebook can be a huge time suck. Personally, I disable the chat and block all the games. (In my humble opinion, these are the biggest time wasters.) Negative Comments on Facebook
Don’t let fear of negative comments hold you back from utilizing the power of Facebook for business. Sure, you could get a negative comment on your page, but I’ve been on Facebook for years. I have administrative power for about two dozen pages and I’ve seen only one truly negative comment. Let me share my experience.
I was asked to help Rivers Edge (a campground) update their website. While doing so I noticed their Facebook page could use a little help, so they added me as admin to the page. On March 8an innocent post was made, “Snow melting? Sign of spring! We’re ready!”
A comment was made that accused Rivers Edge of plowing snow in such a way that snowmobiles couldn’t get through. When I got the notification (instantly, on my smartphone) I called my client. I suggested that they didn’t delete the post, but rather that they responded to it. They did so. The response was diplomatic (though it had more exclamation marks than I would’ve used).
A few days later the poster came back to… (pause for emphasis) … APOLOGIZE! See for yourself…

Please DO give Facebook a try. If you still have concerns about the time it will take to do, the privacy settings, or what to do with a negative comment please call 715-584-6773. I’d be happy to help you manage your social media accounts.
