Business Writing

Goshdarnit! You're a Writer!
Terra L. Fletcher Speaks to the Wisconsin Writers’ Association

You can be brilliant without being a good writer, but do your clients understand your emails? Are you able to persuade people with your writing or are you often asked for clarification? Is poor writing preventing you from getting a well-deserved promotion?

Find out just how easy it is to get started, organize your thoughts and present your message. Business Writing Basics for Professionals will review the purpose and goals of business documents and common workplace communication. You’ll learn to achieve your intended purpose (inform, request, complain, and/or persuade). We’ll identify and correct writing weaknesses and bad habits; we won’t make you memorize the parts or speech or components of a paragraph.

This is a practical workshop; attendees will leave with tips to help them with their individual needs. Participants are invited to bring sample letters, memos, emails, proposals, or other written communication. Enhance your communication skills and build more productive working relationships for yourself and your organization.

Participants Will

·        Write, review, and edit documents more efficiently

·        Identify and correct writing weaknesses and bad habits

·        Discover ways to better organize information

·        Use consistent formats and standards
