Now that I’ve got a little David Bowie stuck in your head…
Allow me to tell you about the Clerks and Treasuers Institute for 2023.
Terra L. Fletcher will be presenting Talent Attraction: Changes and Trends in the Workplace on July 19 from 8 to 11 a.m. The presentation will be given virtually in partnership with the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.
About the Session
Surveys suggest that seven in ten employers struggle to find workers with the right mix of technical skills and human capabilities. So do you struggle to attract the right talent? In this session, we’ll consider the core strategies of talent attraction: employer branding, recruitment marketing, and organizational culture – everything except compensation and benefits. Next, we’ll discuss how generational differences, economic conditions, and current competition impacts talent acquisition. Finally, we’ll be reminded of the value of younger generations regarding mission-critical software and technical skills.
Please note: This is updated material. Since 2020, we’re facing a new way of managing and new office expectations. We’re performing more of our work in digital and virtual environments. Potential employees have more negotiation power and choices than ever. Why should they choose you?
We’ll show you how to level the field with your organization’s culture and remind potential employees that their work with your municipality will positively impact others, especially the local community. In addition, we’ll help you find and attract people with interpersonal skills like leadership, empathy, and adaptability, as well as advanced cognitive skills like critical thinking, project management, and decision-making.
About the Program
The Municipal Clerks and Treasurers Institute consists of a three-year program of classroom instruction that takes place during one-week sessions recurring annually.
The Institute offers one week of classroom sessions during the second week of July. There is a curriculum track for Clerks and a separate curriculum track for Treasurers. The week consists of 33-34 contact hours per attendee. Each year the curriculum increases in difficulty, building on the knowledge gained the previous years. New students must sign up for Year One.
After three years when attendees have completed an accumulated total of 100 hours of programming, Clerks graduate from the Clerks Institute while Treasurers graduate from the Treasurers Institute.
